Home care questions, answered by the people who answer the phone

These are the questions Longmont families ask us every day, in the order they usually ask them. If yours is not here, call (720) 204-5788; a real person answers 24/7/365.

Every question, answered the way we answer it on the phone

How much does home care cost in Longmont?

Care is billed by the hour, and the number depends on how many hours a week you need, the time of day (overnights and 24-hour care are priced differently from daytime hours), and the level of help. We do not publish a rate sheet online because a real number needs a real conversation. There are no hidden fees. Call (720) 204-5788 and we will give you a clear answer for your situation.

Do you have a daily or weekly minimum?

No. There is no required minimum number of care hours per day or week. You can start with a few hours, use us only when you need backup, and keep us as a trusted back-pocket service.

How quickly can you start?

Calls and new-client inquiries are answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. During the day we usually call back immediately or within the hour. How soon care begins depends on the in-home assessment and caregiver availability, so we do not promise a start date before we have talked.

Can we start with only a few hours, or use you only when we need backup?

Yes. Sometimes you just need an extra set of hands. Many families begin with a few hours a week or a single overnight and adjust from there. Care can increase or decrease later as the person’s needs change. Age is a journey.

Do you provide overnight or 24-hour care?

Yes. We provide overnight care, extended shifts, and 24-hour care staffed in shifts. Overnights are often the easiest place to begin because the safety need is clear and the schedule is simple to define.

Will we have the same caregiver every time?

We match personalities, not only schedules and care needs, and we work hard to keep the same faces coming back. We do not guarantee a specific caregiver, because people get sick and take vacations, but consistency is the goal and the office always knows who is in the home.

How do you choose and screen caregivers?

Our caregivers are our own employees, not contractors. We look for kind, dependable people first and train from there, and we take care of our caregivers so they can take care of our clients. Ask us on the call exactly how we screen, train, and introduce a caregiver to your family.

What happens if a caregiver calls out?

The office covers the shift. If a shift cannot be filled, even the owner is not above going to fulfill it.

Can you help someone with dementia or Alzheimer’s?

Yes. Dementia and Alzheimer’s care is one of the largest parts of what we do: redirection, reassurance, routines, meaningful activities, and safety supervision. We do not let the person disappear behind the condition.

Can caregivers help with bathing, toileting, transfers, meals, and medication reminders?

Yes. Personal care and daily living is the core of the job: bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting and incontinence care, mobility and transfer help, fall-prevention standby, meals and hydration, and medication reminders. We do not administer medications.

Can you drive someone to an appointment or pick them up after a hospital stay or procedure?

Yes. We provide non-medical transportation to appointments, therapy, errands, and social activities, plus hospital and rehab discharge pickup and outpatient procedure escorts. The person must be able to travel safely in an ordinary passenger vehicle. We are not an ambulance or medical transport service.

Can you help after plastic surgery, a C-section, or another short-term recovery?

Yes. We provide short-term non-medical recovery support after surgery, illness, injury, or hospitalization, including plastic or cosmetic surgery, dental surgery, LASIK, colonoscopy, and C-section or postpartum recovery for the recovering adult. Meals, laundry, personal care, mobility help, errands, and rest support. We do not provide newborn medical care.

Do you work with hospice or palliative care?

Yes. We provide non-medical personal care, companionship, meals, household help, and family respite alongside hospice or palliative providers. If a client’s needs become skilled, we coordinate with the appropriate medical provider, hospice, or skilled home-health agency.

Do you accept VA benefits or long-term care insurance?

Yes to both. We are an authorized VA/TriWest home care provider, and we accept long-term care insurance. Our primary payers are personal funds, VA/TriWest, and long-term care insurance.

Do Medicare or Medicaid pay for your services?

We do not accept Medicaid, and Medicare generally does not cover ongoing non-medical care. Many families are surprised by this, and we would rather tell you on the first call than after.

Can you help with long-term care insurance paperwork?

Yes. We do all of the legwork weekly: documentation of care hours and services, and authorized communication with the carrier, the family, and the care team.

How will the family know what happened during the shift?

However you want to receive updates: an online portal, a call or text from the office, and, if you like, a binder of care notes kept in the home for review. Office communication is heavy on purpose.

Can care increase later if the person’s needs change?

Yes, up or down. Age is a journey, and the plan moves with it. We stay involved when a situation changes.

Is your office open 24/7?

Calls are answered and new-client inquiries are accepted 24/7/365, and the main number rings on the whole team’s phones. The physical office at 2919 17th Avenue, Suite 115 is not staffed around the clock.
